Mountain Biking Malaga Pass – Sta. Maria – Sta. Teresa – Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu 4days / 3nights

Inka Sun Travel - Cusco Peru Travel InformationThis is one of the most complete routes around the World, we make our tour in bicycle through a beautiful landscape in the valley’s inmensity and jungle’s eyebrow arriving to the thermal springs in Cocalmayo after enjoying the nature with its vegetation and fauna we’ll appreciate fruit plantations, exotic animals, to finally arrive and meet the first marvel of the modern world Machupicchu.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Abra Malaga – Santa Maria

We start the pick up time at 07:20am. destination Abra Malaga, (Malaga Pass), but before this we’ll journey along the Sacred Valley of the Incas where we’ll be able to appreciate a panoramic view of Cusco city, Chinchero, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo up to an altitude of 4330 meters (14,289 ft.) watching impressive landscapes as well as the mountain chain Veronica a trip of approximately 3 hours arriving at Abra Malaga 4315 meters (14239 ft.) From this place we’ll start our adventure on mountain bike through the most beautiful landscapes, we’ll appreciate the La Convención Valley’s immensity down to a warmer area, jungle’s eyebrow with abundant vegetation typical of the jungle, we’ll have our lunch in the jungle on our path will find remnants of an original Inca trail that leads to Machupicchu. On our way we will visit archaeological sites such as the InkaTambo and WamanMarka which we’ll visit accompanied by our guide. Least but not last after approximately 5 hours biking arriving to Santa Maria 1200 meters (3960 ft.), at 5 pm. Where we will stay in our lodge with basic services, dinner.

Day 2: Santa Maria – Thermal Springs – Santa Teresa

Inka Sun Travel - Cuzco ToursVery early in the morning we’ll have our breakfast with natural fruit juices and typical fruits of the region, we start to hike at 07:30am. Through paths full of vegetation, fruit trees where we’ll be able to appreciate the cultivation of Coca the sacred Inca leaf, coffee harvest the flora and fauna of the area, medicinal plants, birds, butterflies, snakes, exotic jungle fruits like mangoes, pineapples, papayas, avocado etc...We’ll visit a local family home, appreciate beautiful waterfalls of the area. We’ll have a fantastic adventure crossing the river in an Oroya (a hanging basket), we will visit the archaeological complex of Inka Carcel and the thermal springs in Cocalmayo where you can take a nice hot bath after this we will arrive to the Santa Teresa village 1570 meters. (5181 ft.) where we will have our dinner and stay for the night.

Day 3: Santa Teresa – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes

Inka Sun Travel - Peru TravelAfter a typical breakfast of this area we will start our hike and will be able to appreciate the Mandor waterfalls, during this stage we will be able to see the San Miguel and Putucusi mountains we’ll cross over the Vilcanota river on a typical Oroya appreciating the magical and wild landscape of this place, we can enjoy the great variety of animals and vegetation like insects, iguanas, butterflies and medicinal plants we’ll arrive to the hydroelectric compound were we will enjoy our lunch and continue our way headed to Aguas Calientes for another 2 hours approximately, once in the village we’ll proceed to the check- in in our hostel, rest and at night we’ll enjoy our dinner. (Optional train transportation from hydroelectric compound to Aguas Calientes).

Day 4: Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Cusco

We’ll wake up early in the morning to visit the Gonder of the modern world the citadel of Machupicchu after breakfast we’ll board or climb the hill at 5:30am. it will take 25 minutes on bus or 1 ½ hours walking to get to the archaeological complex where we will have a guided visit that will last around 2 hours after the visit we will have free time to explore the surroundings and take pictures it is optional if you want to climb the Huaynapicchu from where we will have an spectacular view of Machupicchu after this we’ll descend to the village and board our train back to Cusco city the trip will take approximately 4 hours.
