Overview:

 

Combine the nature and wildlife of the Peruvian Amazon Jungle with the wonders of the Inca culture, Machu Picchu, Cusco and the Sacred Valley. Enjoy the Amazon Jungle from your master suite in the Aqua Luxury Cruiser and take a short day adventure on comfortable skiffs that will take you even deeper into the jungle. Arrive to Machu Picchu by one of the most luxurious trains in the world, “The Hiram Bingham”.

 

Day By Day Itinerary:

 

Day 1: Arrival to Lima

 

· Upon arrival in Lima you'll meet your tour guide and private transfer from the Airport to the Miraflores Park Plaza Hotel.

· Overnight in Miraflores/Lima

 

Day 2: From Lima to the Amazon Jungle – Cruise (B,L,D)

 

· Morning at leisure in Lima

· Afternoon flight from Lima to Iquitos ( Peruvian Amazon Jungle)

· Upon arrival in Iquitos transfer to your suite on the M/V Aqua Luxury Cruiser

· Journey toward the Yanayacu River, deep in the heart of the Amazon jungle. You are embarking on a spectacular adventure to a place visited by only a few of the most experienced world travellers.

· In the evening enjoy a special welcome dinner aboard the M/V Aqua.

· Overnight on the Aqua Luxury Cruiser

 

Day 3: Cruise – Tahuayo River and Fishing at Charo Lake (B,L,D)

 

· After breakfast board our comfortable excursion skiffs for your first adventure.

· Explore the Tahuayo Black Water River observing the wide wildlife variety.

· Upon arrival at Charo Lake you can bait your hooks to try to catch one of Amazonia’s fearsome piranhas.

· Return to the M/V Aqua. As the vessel continues up the Amazon River, you have some time for relaxing, or perhaps even take a nap before lunch.

· Enjoy lighter mid-day fare in our air-conditioned dining room.

· During the afternoon enjoy the Yacapana Islands Exploration and Dolphin Sighting. As the sun sets, you will have the chance to see and photograph both gray and pink freshwater dolphins.

· We will return to the M/V Aqua vessel and continue our journey.

· Enjoy a pre-dinner Pisco Sour on the upper deck while you watch the sunset.

· Overnight on the M/V Aqua

 

Day 4: Marañon River / Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (B, L, D)

 

· Today you can choose between two daytime excursion options:

• - Option 1: Full-Day Excursion with a Picnic Lunch at the Ranger Station
  Travel by skiff from Yanayacu Creek all the way to a small creek where giant river otter usually nest. See monkeys, including the squirrel-sized monkeys called Tamarins, pink and gray river dolphins, and a vast variety of birds. Enjoy a generous picnic lunch before we begin our journey back to our vessel.
• - Option 2: Guided Jungle Walk/Siesta/Monkey and Dolphin Expedition.
  This morning your Park Ranger will tell you about sustainable resource management projects in Amazonia. You will visit one of the projects, where villagers are planting palms to obtain oil. Return to the M/V Aqua to enjoy lunch, followed by a siesta. In the late afternoon expedition you are likely to see the two different kinds of freshwater dolphins — including the unusual pink ones —found in the Amazon. Later, keep your eyes directed toward the jungle canopy, where you can spot at least several kinds of primates from among the 13 species of monkeys residing in the National Park. Watch for alligators, and keep your binoculars at the ready, as you are likely to see more than 200 species of birds. Return to the M/V Aqua. Dinner

· A night excursion is also available in addition to the two optional day excursions: This evening we will take the skiffs out in search of caymans, tree boas, tarantulas, and frogs. After this night adventure, the M/V Aqua will start sailing downstream on the Marañón River, toward the headwaters of the Amazon.

 

Day 5: Birthplace of Amazon/Puerto Miguel Village and Marayali River (B, L, D)

 

· This morning the M/V Aqua skirts the edges of the vast Pacaya-Samiria Reserve.

· Rise early to view one of the great spectacles of the Southern Hemisphere: the sun rising over the birthplace of the Amazon River. Here—where the union of two rivers form the world’s greatest waterway—nature is at its most dramatic.

· Your dawn excursion will be accompanied by abundant bird song, as you glide in small boats past river banks populated by large-billed terns, laughing falcons, gray tanagers, sandpipers, five kinds of parakeets, the exotic short-tailed parrot, and dozens of other birds.

· We will travel by skiff to Puerto Miguel, a native village, where you can meet and interact with local villagers from this most remote part of the world.

· Return to the M/V Aqua, lunch followed by disembarkation at Nauta city where we meet you to take you to Iquitos International Airport. Flight to Lima and upon arrival, transfer to your Hotel.

 

Day 6: Flight from Lima to Cusco – Sacred Valley (B,L,D)

 

· In the morning 1 hour flight Lima – Cusco (included)

· Upon arrival in Cusco meet your tour guide and private transfer Airport – Luxury Hotel located in the Sacred Valley at lower elevation than Cusco for altitude acclimatization

· Stops along the way from airport to Sacred Valley at view points and a visit to an Animal Recovery Center for observations of condors, pumas, parrots, llamas and alpacas

· Rest of the day at leisure

· In the evening a special dinner

· Overnight in the Sacred Valley

 

Day 7: Sacred Valley of the Incas (B,L,D)

 

· Full day private Sacred Valley Tour including: Pisaq remains, Pisaq market, local corn beer brewery, Ollantaytambo remains, Ollantaytambo village

· Overnight in the Sacred Valley

 

Day 8: Machu Picchu with Hiram Bingham (B,L,D)

 

· In the morning a 2 hour trip aboard the Luxury Hiram Bingham Train from the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu

· During the afternoon a private tour in Machu Picchu (Afternoons in Machu Picchu are less crowded and more peaceful)

· Overnight in at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge

 

Day 9: Machu Picchu – Cusco (B,L,D)

 

· Morning free in Machu Picchu.

· Wayna Picchu climbing: Optional

· Early afternoon Vista Dome Premium Wagon service Machu Picchu to Cusco

· Overnight at Monasterio Hotel, Cusco

 

Day 10: Cusco City Tour (B,L,D)

 

· In the morning, private City Tour including: Sacsayhuaman, San Pedro local market, Cusco Cathedral and Temple of the Sun, “Koricancha”

· Rest of the day at leisure

· Special goodbye dinner with opera show.
